Marching Band

The Sound O' Gold Marching Band, under the direction of Thomas H. Steger and the on-field leadership of senior drum major Julie Seevers, with the assistance of Guard Instructor Amy Jo Hay, has just completed its 20th competitive season. This year's show was a collection of movie themes, including "Tara's Theme," "Ben-Hur Overture," "James Bond 007," "Circle of Life," and "An American Symphony." The band won several awards in competition this season, including Best Field Commander (Class C) at the Hendersonville Golden Invitational Marching Contest in Hendersonville, TN, and 7th place overall at the Buckhorn Invitational Marching Contest in New Market, AL. On October 17 at FHS, the band hosted the 5th annual Sound O' Gold Marching Classic, in which 14 bands from Middle and West Tennessee competed. The 1998-99 edition of the Marching Band consisted of 54 musicians and nine guard members.

The SOGMB's season officially ends on December 13 with the annual Fairview Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade.
